Mets Sweep Marlins

The Mets kept the good train rolling on Sunday afternoon, as they finished off the series sweep of the Miami Marlins by a score of 10-1. The Mets, now winners of four straight ball games, sit at 26-33, six games out of a Wild Card spot.

The Mets offense was the star of the show today, as they scored ten runs vs Miami, who had to pivot to a bullpen game due to expected starter Janson Junk’s surprise trip to the injured list this morning. They treated opener John King rudely, as Carson Benge greeted him with his first career lead off home run. The offense did a great job of keeping up the pressure, as they scored runs in four different innings.

The biggest blast was a grand slam from Juan Soto in the sixth inning.
The Mets, who need to just stack wins and see what happens, will look to do so on the West Coast (again), as they fly to Seattle for a three-game series starting tomorrow.

Felix Rosenqvist Wins Indy 500

The 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 did not disappoint — even with a handful of crashes and weather cautions that slowed the action down. A red flag with eight laps to go, followed by a caution, set up a one-lap shootout for the biggest prize in American motorsports.

That left David Malukas to claim his spot as one of IndyCar’s most electric young racers. He took the lead on the restart and held it all the way through turn four — but it wasn’t meant to be. Sweden’s Felix Rosenqvist had more juice down the final stretch, claiming the lead moments before crossing the bricks for his first Indy 500 win and a place on the Borg Warner Trophy.
A heartbroken Malukas finished second. 2025 champion Alex Palou led more laps than anyone in the field — 59 out of 200 — but was forced to settle for seventh place.

Knicks Take 2-0 Lead Over Cavaliers

The New York Knicks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 109-93.They now hold a 2-0 series lead as they head to Cleveland.

The Knicks went up by double-digits in the second half and then, unlike the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1, held on for a win.
New York had all the momentum, plus home-court advantage, after outscoring Cleveland 44-11 to close out the series opener. The Cavaliers appeared to have shaken off that mortifying outcome in the first half, but it all fell apart early in the third quarter.

Josh Hart had a playoff career-high 26 points on 10-of-21 shooting (5-of-11 from 3-point range), plus seven assists and some aggressive defense against Cleveland’s backcourt.

Yankees Hold on for 5-4 Win Over Blue Jays

The Yankees scored five unanswered runs thanks to homers from Ryan McMahon and Ben Rice to defeat the Blue Jays, 5-4, at Yankee Stadium. It was another nervous ninth inning, but the Yankees prevailed.
With runners at second and third and a Toronto Blue Jays run already home, Camilo Doval got Kaz Okamoto to ground out to Anthony Volpe, sealing Tuesday night’s 5-4 win.

Doval was subbing as closer with both David Bednar and Fernando Cruz unavailable due to heavy workloads.
Ryan McMahon broke a personal 0-for-24 with a game-tying three-run homer off Dylan Cease in the fourth, setting up Ben Rice’s go-ahead, two-run homer in the fifth.
New York (30-19) has now won two games in a row and 2-0 on this current home trip.

Knicks Sweep 76ers!

The New York Knicks are out for domination. For the second year in a row, Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns led the team to the Eastern Conference Finals.
They proved that the Larry O’Brien trophy is merely the reward but the goal was to overpower their opponents. It showed in their 144-114 demolition of the Philadelphia 76ers which led to an insane 4-0 sweep. They even notched a historic net rating feat.

Game 4 between the Knicks and 76ers was over during the middle of the first quarter. Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns saw their squad take over with a massive 19-point lead before the second quarter started. For most teams, it would all be a matter of closing out but the Knicks are different. They continued to steamroll Joel Embiid and Co.

By the end of their 144-114 domination, the Knicks secured a 20.3 net rating in the NBA Playoffs. This is the best net rating by a team in a single postseason run. They are also the sole owners of the record.

Denny’s Breakfast Chain To Go Private in $620 Million Dollar Deal

Denny’s, the breakfast chain known for classic diner food and its Grand Slam Breakfast, is going private in a $620 million deal orchestrated by a group of investors.

The deal values the chain at $620 million, including debt. The investors purchasing the company are private equity investment company TriArtisan Capital Advisors, investment firm Treville Capital and Denny’s franchisee Yadav Enterprises.

Under the agreement, Denny’s shareholders will receive $6.25 per share in cash for each share of Denny’s common stock they own, or a total of $322 million. That represents a 52% premium to Denny’s closing stock price on Monday.
Founded in 1953 as Danny’s Donuts, the company changed its name to Denny’s in 1959 to avoid confusion with another chain, and began trading on the New York Stock Exchange a decade later. During the past two years, Denny’s has struggled to boost sales as consumers shifted toward a reliance on delivery through apps.

Mets Manager Carlos Mendoza On The Hot Seat?

The 2026 New York Mets hit another low over the weekend. They got swept by the last-place Colorado Rockies in Queens, by scores of 4-3, 3-1 and 3-0.
The Mets are 9-19 and tied with the Phillies for the worst record in baseball.

Meanwhile, the Mets’ offense, which was missing Juan Soto and now is missing Francisco Lindor, has been slumping to a shocking degree.

The Mets finally ended their 12-game losing streak but looked terrible at home over the weekend against Colorado.
How secure is manager Carlos Mendoza’s job?

Golden Tempo Wins Kentucky Derby

Long shot Golden Tempo made a stretch run for the ages, coming from dead last to win the 152nd Run for the Roses. In the process, Cherie DeVaux became the first female trainer ever to win the Kentucky Derby.
In a Derby without a strong favorite, most of the public’s attention was on Arkansas Derby winner Renegade, Florida Derby winner Commandment, Santa Anita Derby winner So Happy and Bill Mott trainee Chief Wallabee.

But it was Golden Tempo, trained by DeVaux and ridden by Jose Ortiz, who went off at 23-1 and found itself in last place entering the final turns only to sweep past a tight pack in the stretch run to win by a nose over favorite Renegade. Ocelli, a 70-1 longshot, showed. The winning time was 2:02.27.
The payouts were significant:
- Golden Tempo (23-1): $48.24
- Renegade (5-1): $7.14
- Ocelli (70-1): $36.34
- $2 exacta: $278.86
The stretch run from Golden Tempo was, in a few words, impossible to believe. As the pack entered the final turns, Golden Tempo wasn’t in view of the leaders. As the pack entered the stretch, the 3-year-old had moved up to 13th in the 18-horse race, but still seemingly out of contention. But Ortiz drove through traffic deftly, then found a lane on the outside straight to victory, edging out Renegade at the wire.

Fernando Mendoza has had a remarkable last 12 months and the 22-year-old added another milestone on Thursday to his constantly growing resume: Becoming the top selection in the NFL draft.
The Las Vegas Raiders selected the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback with the first overall pick.

The 22-year-old, who was watching the draft in Coral Gables, Florida, along with his family, was emotional as NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announced the selection.

In the last five months, Mendoza led the Indiana Hoosiers to their first national championship in program history, a perfect 16-0 record, to the university’s first Big Ten football title since 1967. He was also named the Associated Press Player of the Year.

“I’m just look forward to getting to work,” Mendoza told ESPN. “College was fantastic. I am so blessed to have that career but now I step into a great game, the NFL.”
