Yankees Sign Aaron Boone to Two-Year Deal

Aaron Boone has signed a two-year contract extension to remain as manager of the New York Yankees, the team announced.

The Yankees exercised their club option on Boone’s contract in November, with the team saying that a longer deal would be discussed once they were finished with offseason business. Now Boone has a new deal that will keep him with the club through the 2027 season.

During the MLB general manager meetings in November, Yankees GM Brian Cashman made it known that he wasn’t  looking to make a managerial change in the offseason following the team’s defeat to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series.

The Yankees have a 603-429 regular season record and six postseason appearances in seven seasons under Boone.

Shaq’s Orlando Mansion For Sale: $16.5 Million!

Basketball legend Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal is selling his central Florida estate. The 30,000-plus-square-foot spread is located near Orlando in Windermere.

The property, which O’Neal purchased for $3.95 million in 1993 and later expanded, is now priced at $16.5 million.

Located in a gated community, the mansion is quite packed with over-the-top amenities. The two-story great room measures 1,170 square feet alone, and has a marble fireplace and glass walls. There’s a soundproof home theater with a bar area. There’s also a temperature-controlled, walk-in cigar humidor with wine storage and a 17-plus car garage that’s modeled to look like a showroom.

  • Mets Pitcher Kodai Senga Ready For Fresh Start

Mets Pitcher Kodai Senga Ready For Fresh Start

Kodai Senga spent part of his winter at home in Japan in rehab mode, with the goal of arriving at spring training ready for a normal buildup toward the season.

On that count, the Mets right-hander is confident he succeeded.

Senga said he’s been “normal and healthy” since early January after missing almost all of last season with multiple ailments.

“I am not worried at all,” Senga said through his interpreter. “I just need to ramp up slowly and get through spring training healthy and pitching a lot of innings so we can go deep into the postseason.”

“This offseason has been really great in terms of evaluating what types of movements I need and don’t need,” he said. “I have been able to work on that and I feel really good up to this point. I just need to ramp up slowly.”

The Mets plan to employ a six-man rotation, largely to provide extra rest for Senga, who was accustomed to such a schedule in Japan. Senga, in his first season with the Mets, was better with the extra day of rest than on a normal schedule.

“I think what is really important is my health, and if I feel good I will be able to throw, whether it’s a six-man rotation or five-man rotation, regular rest or long rest,” Senga said. “It’s up to the manager to decide when I am going to throw. I just need to be ready to throw whenever they call on me.”

  • Aaron Rodgers Will Leave the Jets

Aaron Rodgers Will Leave the Jets

The Jets made official what was already widely anticipated: Aaron Rodgers will not return for the 2025 season.

“Last week we met with Aaron and shared that our intention was to move in a different direction at quarterback,” said head coach Aaron Glenn.

“I personally want to thank Aaron for his time at the New York Jets,” owner Woody Johnson said in a statement. “His arrival in 2023 was met with unbridled excitement and I will forever be grateful that he chose to join us to continue his Hall of Fame career. I wish him only the best in whatever he chooses to do next.”

After tearing his Achilles in the 2023 season opener against Buffalo, Rodgers returned to the field in 2024, playing all 17 games despite dealing with injuries to his hamstring, knee, and ankle. In his first full year as Gang Green’s starter, Rodgers completed 368 of 584 passes for 3,897 yards and 28 touchdowns to 11 interceptions. On paper, Rodgers’ numbers were solid, but the Jets went 5-12 as the season quickly unraveled after a 2-3 start.

  • Al Capone’s Florida Hideaway For Sale

Al Capone’s Florida Hideaway For Sale

Mobster Al Capone’s famed home on Palm Island in Miami Beach is still on the market — for $12.95 million, down from its $14.9 million ask in 2022.

The four-bedroom waterfront villa, built in 1922 at 93 Palm Ave., comes with a pool and a two-story cabana.

A former gatehouse — installed by Capone — has now been transformed into a two-bedroom, one-bathroom guesthouse. The property offers 100 feet on Biscayne Bay.

Capone bought the house for $40,000 in 1928, when he was 29, then spent $200,000 renovating it — installing a tall wall and search lights for security. He lived there briefly before his prison stint, then returned in 1932 after he was released from Alcatraz, remaining there until his death in 1947.

His widow, Mae Capone, sold the home in 1952.

Capone allegedly planned the infamous St. Valentine’s Day Massacre from its confines, providing proof he was at home in Florida at the time of the murders as his alibi.

The seller is Emanuela Verlicchi Marazzi, widow of Filippo Marazzi, former president of Marazzi Group, a ceramic tile company.

  • What Is Aaron Rodgers’ NFL Future?

What Is Aaron Rodgers’ NFL Future?

Favre, who started over Rodgers during the latter’s first three NFL seasons with the Green Bay Packers before similarly being traded to the Jets in 2008, said his former predecessor still has “something left,” despite one of the worst seasons of his inevitable Hall of Fame career.

“I think I’m right in saying that he has a lot of juice left in the tank,” Favre told TMZ Sports.

“I just know that he still can play,” he added. “It’s just a matter of does he want to and does he want to give it his all and does a team want to take a chance on him.”

Rodgers, 41, is currently signed with the Jets through the 2025 season. The four-time MVP suffered a season-ending Achilles injury during his first drive with the Jets in 2023 and had a disappointing season in 2024, leading the team to a 5-14 record.

  • Eagles Dominate Chiefs 40-22

    Eagles Dominate Chiefs 40-22

The Philadelphia Eagles are Super Bowl champions again after a dominant performance in a 40-22 win over the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs.

The win is the first for the quarterback-coaching duo of Jalen Hurts and Nick Sirianni after they fell in Super Bowl LVII against the Chiefs. With the loss, Kansas City falls short in its quest for the first three-peat in the Super Bowl era.

A brilliant night from the Eagles’ defense and an efficient, poised night from Hurts headlined Philadelphia’s second Super Bowl title in franchise history. The Eagles held the Chiefs to 225 total yards and forced three turnovers, including a second-quarter Cooper DeJean interception that he returned for a touchdown.

Hurts, who was named Super Bowl MVP, finished the night 17-of-22 for 221 yards through the air and two passing touchdowns. He also rushed for 72 yards — a new Super Bowl record for a quarterback — and a Tush Push rushing touchdown. Saquon Barkley had 97 total yards, with 57 on the ground on 31 touches.

Patrick Mahomes threw for 257 yards and three scores — much of that once the Eagles had the game well in hand — along with two interceptions and a lost fumble. He’s now 3-3 in six career Super Bowl starts.
