NFL Running Back Ricky Williams Launches Cannabis Brand

Ricky Williams is known mostly for two things — his abilities on the football field and love for marijuana. The former NFL star has found a way to market himself using both.
Williams recently launched a cannabis brand called “Highsman.” The brand includes cannabis products, apparel and a line of accessories. There are three different strains of marijuana called Pregame, Halftime and Postgame.
“It is time we change the way we talk about cannabis,” Williams said. “Highsman is about an appreciation for greatness. There is a passionate and dedicated team behind the brand, and together we want to help all people inspire greatness in themselves.”
Williams won the Heisman Trophy at Texas and led the NFL in rushing with 1,853 yards in 2002. He was suspended five times and missed two full seasons during his NFL career due to positive drug tests. The league has since softened its stance on marijuana use.

Major League Baseball and Players Association Reach Agreement

Major League Baseball and the MLB Players Association reached a new collective bargaining agreement, finally halting a 99-day owner-imposed lockout fraught with rampant tension and colored by heightened mistrust.
The season will begin on April 7.
Twenty-six of the 38 union leaders voted in favor of a five-year CBA that saw its members make significant gains with regard to minimum salaries and the competitive balance tax threshold, among other areas. The 30 team owners ratified the deal by a unanimous vote, according to the league, finalizing a CBA that provided them with an expanded postseason field and the ability to place advertisements on uniforms.
MLB commissioner Rob Manfred, the face of pointed criticism from players throughout the process, said he “could not be more excited about the future of our game” and vowed to work more closely with MLBPA executive director Tony Clark with hopes of bridging a noticeable gap.

Aaron Rodgers May Get $200 Million for Four Year Deal to Stay With Packers!

Aaron Rodgers is planning to come back to the Green Bay Packers for an 18th season, a move that keeps the reigning MVP off the trade market and answers the question that had dominated NFL offseason discussions.
“Yes, I will be playing with the Packers next year,” Rodgers said. “However, reports about me signing a contract are inaccurate, as are the supposed terms of the contract ‘I signed.’ I’m very excited to be back.”
NFL Network reported that the 38-year-old Rodgers had agreed to a four-year, $200 million contract that includes $153 million in guaranteed money.
Rodgers’ decision comes a month after he won his second straight MVP award. The four-time MVP quarterback has spent his entire career in Green Bay.

Boxing Legend Manny Pacquiao President of the Philippines?

There has been talk of Manny Pacquiao making a run at the presidency in the Philippines over the past couple of years, and the legendary boxer has now confirmed it is happening.
Pacquiao, who has been a senator in the Philippines since 2016, accepted the nomination of his PDP-Laban party at its national convention. That means he will run for president in 2022.
“I am a fighter, and I will always be a fighter inside and outside the ring,” Pacquiao said in his speech, according to The Associated Press. We need government to serve our people with integrity, compassion and transparency.”
Current president Rodrigo Duterte is unable to seek a second six-year term. He is planning to run for vice president with another candidate. Pacquiao has accused Duterte’s administration of making corruption worse in the Philippines. The 42-year-old said politicians who have been responsible for corruption in the nation “will soon end in jail together.”

Aaron Rodgers Would Not Play For The Chicago Bears

Aaron Rodgers has expressed that he does not want to remain in Green Bay much longer due to issues he has with the the team’s front office. He could end up on a new team next season, but would he consider going to one of his biggest division rivals?
Rodgers said he is well aware of how much Bears fans dislike him. He also said he liked the city overall, which led to a question about whether he could ever play for the NFC North rival.
Rodgers responded with a hard “no.”
Rodgers may say that now, but you never know what could happen. Brett Favre ended up playing for the Minnesota Vikings towards the end of his career. Rodgers shouldn’t close the door on playing for Chicago. But he probably couldn’t say that publicly, not while he’s still wearing green and yellow.

Boston Red Sox Hero David Ortiz Elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame

David Ortiz was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first turn on the ballot, while steroid-tainted stars Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens were denied entry to Cooperstown in their final year under consideration by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America.
Ortiz, a clutch slugger and 10-time All-Star over 20 seasons mostly with the Boston Red Sox, was named on 77.9% of ballots unveiled Tuesday night, clearing the 75% threshold needed for enshrinement. He’s the fourth primary designated hitter voted into the Hall.
Big Papi was among baseball’s most recognizable faces through the 2000s and 2010s. His enormous grin endeared him to fans, but the Dominican’s hulking frame menaced pitchers, especially in the late innings. He had 23 game-ending hits, including three during the 2004 postseason while Boston ended an 86-year World Series drought.
He’s also the fourth player born in the Dominican Republic, joining Juan Marichal, Pedro Martinez and Vladimir Guerrero.
Ortiz also has PED baggage, but enough voters chose to ignore a positive test that came during survey testing in 2003 that was supposed to be anonymous. Ortiz has denied using steroids, and Commissioner Rob Manfred said in 2016 “I think it would be wrong” to exclude him from the Hall of Fame based on that lone test.

Rams Beat the 49ers to Advance to the Super Bowl

For the second time in four years, the Rams are headed to the Super Bowl.
Led by Matthew Stafford under center and a run-stopping defense, the Rams closed the NFC Championship Game with 13 unanswered points to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 20-17.
Up next are the AFC champion Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI on February 13.
Stafford, who threw for 337 yards, took over with 6:49 to play in a 17-17 ballgame. He calmly marched the ball down the length of the field, hitting all five of his pass attempts on the drive and setting up kicker Matt Gay for the eventual game-winning field goal from 30 yards out.

Los Angeles got another monster game from star wide receiver Cooper Kupp, who caught 11 balls for 142 yards and hauled in both of Stafford’s TD tosses. Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. was also fantastic in the Rams’ passing game, finishing with nine catches and 142 yards. LA’s defense, meanwhile, limited San Francisco to just 50 yards rushing.

QB Ben Roethlisberger Retires, Will be Headed to Hall of Fame

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisbergerhas retired at the age of 39. The No. 11 overall pick in the 2004 NFL Draft out of Miami University won two Super Bowls in Pittsburgh and was a six-time Pro Bowler.
“Big Ben” played in 249 regular-season games, 23 postseason games and three Super Bowls. He retires while sitting at No. 5 on the all-time passing list with 64,088 yards — one spot behind Brett Favre and right above Philip Rivers.
The 2004 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year made his mark on the Steelers immediately, as he led Pittsburgh to the most wins ever recorded by a rookie with 15. Later, he became the fourth quarterback in NFL history to win 100 games in the first 150 starts of his career. Roethlisberger also holds the NFL record for most career 500-yard passing games with four.
“I don’t know how to put into words what the game of football has meant to me, and what a blessing it has been,” Roethlisberger said.

The last-remaining quarterback from the legendary 2004 class, Roethlisberger threw for 3,740 yards with 22 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in his final regular season. His 249 regular-season games are the most of any player in franchise history. He went 165-81-1 in the regular season while compiling the fifth-most regular-season wins in NFL history.
Next stop for Roethlisberger? Most likely Canton. Bet on it.
